Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Talisker Guest House enjoys a superb location on the banks of the River Ness, offering beautiful views, and it's just a short walk from the city center and attractions like Ness Islands. The continental breakfast is usually considered generous, with the option of eggs cooked to order, although a few guests have noted minor issues with breakfast presentation. Some rooms offer lovely garden views, and while single rooms are on the smaller side, they generally provide everything needed.

a stay close to the river

river proximity helpful staff rusty kettle breakfast refills
the location proved quite advantageous for accessing local spots. i found the river proximity particularly appealing. the staff were helpful in guiding me toward interesting walks along the ness.
The kettle in my room looked a bit aged inside with some rust. also, the breakfast, although sufficient, lacked a bit regarding constant refilling. Some items were depleted rather quickly during breakfast hours.

mixed feelings about this stay

limited space low water pressure
the room felt quite small. there was limited space to move around and store luggage. also the shower had very low water pressure. it made it difficult to have a proper wash after a long day touring the highlands.

a lovely stay by the river

great location river bank private car park good breakfast
the location was indeed great, right on the riverbank. it was easy to get to city center bars and restaurants from there. we appreciated the private car park, especially since on-street parking seemed limited nearby. the continental breakfast was also quite good.
my room was rather small, but it had a great view from the window, so it wasn't a big deal.
Rooms
9/10
the room included tea and coffee making facilities, a nice touch. the hotel was immaculately presented and maintained. a cozy atmosphere and comfortable bed were notable features.
Service

The location allowed easy access to ness island walks, situated just outside the accommodation. my room overlooked the river. The views were lovely. i booked a rabbies tour and the pickup point was only a short walk away. the breakfast was fabulous. The hostess was lovely.
the shower worked adequately, but i found the overall space a bit small for my liking, a minor inconvenience given the other positives.

adequate stay

central streets friendly staff river view cramped bedroom dated headboard odd bedcovers
The location is quite nice. it is approximately a 10-minute walk to the central streets. i had a good view of the river from the room. It was dreamy. the staff was friendly.
the bedroom seemed a bit cramped. the headboard cover seemed a bit dated. i thought the bed covers seemed odd to be honest.
